Roses
“A rose by any other name wouldn’t smell as sweet.”
Why is it that women love roses so much? Valentine’s Day, in general, is a holiday for romance. Receiving roses on Valentine’s Day not only is a romantic gesture in and of itself, but it symbolizes “I love you” in no uncertain terms.
There are many variations of rose arrangements, so, if you feel so inclined to purchase roses for your Valentine, know that there different routes to go on this.
- Although a standard bouquet of red roses is nice, because there are so many colours to choose from, you need not limit yourself to just one colour scheme. Try a different shade than red, or combine several different colours.
- Instead of the benchmark dozen roses, just do a couple and add a teddy bear to the arrangement.
- Get a bouquet of roses preserved in 24 karat pure gold. All her girlfriends might be getting roses from the men in their lives, but will they get real roses in clear enamel trimmed in gold accents? I think not!
- How about instead of a bouquet of roses, you get her a rose plant? The plant is potted in a planter, and can continue blooming long after Valentine’s Day has come and gone.
- Instead of giving her the actual roses, give her a “Name a Rose Gift Box.” With this gift box, you can name a pack of rose seeds after them and she can grow a rose bush that will continue to blossom, season after season.
Here are some romantic ideas to accompany whichever arrangement you choose:
- Write a love letter or poem to be sent with the bouquet. Obviously the roses themselves are sending a message. Make that message loud and clear with personalised, endearing words written solely for your sweetheart.
- Send the roses the day before Valentine’s Day. Initially, your lover will probably roll her eyes and think, “How ignorant, he got the day wrong.” But when she opens the card the reads something like “I couldn’t wait until tomorrow to tell you how much I love you,” her heart is bound to melt right there on the spot.
Unless you desire to do so, there is no need to stick with your traditional red roses on Valentine’s Day. As you can see, you can be creative and leave a lasting impression this year.
