Although flowers can be a bit “cliché” when it comes to Valentine’s Day, they are, nonetheless, often well-appreciated. They are a nice addition to perhaps another gift, especially if you have been dating your sweetheart for awhile.
Roses are probably the most popular order received at flower shops during the Valentine’s Day season. If roses are the direction you are leaning towards, keep in mind that the diverse colours of roses have various connotations. Depending on the message you are intending to convey, here are the meanings:
As you can see, there is basically a colour of rose for whatever you want to say to your Valentine. These colours also apply to other types of flowers, such as carnations, etc. If there are several of the above messages that are applicable to the relationship, consider getting a variety bouquet and say them all!
If going with the cliché is not your style, there are many other types of flowers to choose from. Roses, although pretty commonplace, are not the only option you have. Anything from something simple like carnations, tulips, or daisies, to more exotic flowers like lilies and hydrangeas, are available for selection from most flower shops, both online and close by. The most ideal plan is to somehow find out what the recipient’s favourite type of flower is. Try to do this without her knowing, and watch how surprised she is on Valentine’s Day when you have seemingly read her mind. This will surely win you points!
So what are you going to add to the flowers to make them extra-special? A teddy bear that says “I love you” or a similar appropriate message is a nice touch. Candy or chocolate covered strawberries are also certain to be cherished by your Valentine’s Day sweetheart. Whatever you end up choosing to add to the flowers will surely put a smile on your significant other’s face.
